Lipton Trophy – 20 November 2004
50 boats took part in the Lipton Trophy, the first pursuit race of the series. Jamie McWilliam on “Wanchai Belle” won the 12 nautical mile pursuit race around Victoria Harbour only 27 seconds ahead of “Chopstix” skippered by George Strome. Coming in third was “Puff'n'Stuff” under the guidance of David Chow. Tomes Cup - 5 January 2005 Skipper Dave Yourieff on “Lickety Split” sailed past 43 competitors to lift the 125 year old Tomes Cup, the second race of the Black Mountain "Top Dog Trophy" race series at the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club. Lickety Split, an Etchells class boat, finished the race in Hong Kong's Victoria Harbour ahead of fellow Etchells, “Wanchai Belle” skippered by Patrick Pender. The deciding race of this season's Black Mountain Top Dog Trophy series was over 18 nautical miles. Although the breeze varied from 6 to 14 knots, the boats which made the best of the conditions were the Flying Fifteens and Etchells. Steve Bourne on “Ffriction BC” finished six minutes ahead of the second placed boat, Andrew Malone on Ffirecracker. Coming in third was an Etchell with Nick Burns on Gunga Din.
